Any honest physicist will tell you that they only have maps & models for 4% of the known universe! That means that the other 96% is Unknown ??! And we only perceive 10% of the Electromagnetic Spectrum ( Light / Sound, Tactile.. ). So we ONLY experience 10% of the 4% that is known, the other 96% is an invisible mystery?? So it would stand to reason that the 96% is where the action really is! ?

Existing solely in the 10% of 4% is like someone having a 6 bedroom house & living in the bathroom and staying only in the shower! Also that 4% knowledge base gets upgraded or revised, so for science to claim an absolute certitude in truth is Scientism! Our science system can be just as dogmatic in it's certitude as religion & in the western world science has taken the place of religion as the high priests of reality.

Maps & Models

What science does well is make workable descriptions i.e. "maps & models"of what is thought to be understood. Science is a system to describe how the universe appears to be working from the perspective of a human being. We can never fully understand reality or the universe because we have limitations due to our 5 senses, instruments of measurement & our intellect. As Alfred Korzybski stated: " The map is not the territory, nor is the menu the meal".

We have to always remember we live in a world of appearances. The world only "appears" the way it does to us humans because of our sensory filters, our brains & cultural conditioning. Keep in mind not long ago Science fought against meteors from space, air-travel / airplanes & space travel. Yet all that is now passe' in our life & laughable. Can you imagine trying to describe an X-Box, television or virtual reality to a scientist in 1742 ?

The maps & models of science do not define an "Absolute" anything,
it simply provides us rational tools to better understand & communicate what we human beings perceive life to be. Our maps & models are not the fundamental nature of reality or the universe they are just good workable descriptions of what we think may be happening, even though they have their limitations they are all we can know.

We humans as thinking, experiential, conceptual beings have limits to our capacity to understand & comprehend our world & universe that we occupy. There is "The Known", "The Unknown" ( which can be learned & known eventually ) & "The Unknowable" ( which can NEVER be Comprehended by humans ). The Unknowable is like a fish in a lake trying to understand the surface world of humans, our sciences, cultures, technologies, languages, etc... Could a fish ever hope to understand how to build a 747, drive a car or read a book?

So in the same way we can NEVER KNOW the absolute nature of everything or reality in it's entirety.

All we can do is make maps & models that explain our current understanding of how we think things operate & function at certain levels. Because of this our maps & models are constantly being redefined, they are in state of constant flux. The only absolute is change!

There is a school of thought which has gained significant credibility and momentum, largely as the result of Ray Kurzweil’s best-selling book “The Singularity is Near.” It is based on the belief that we will achieve a technological singularity in the coming decades (Kurzweil puts the date at 2045), a sort of AI-run-amok scenario. Closely related is the concept of Transhumanism, which predicts that due to the same trends and forces, we will merge with artificial intelligence (AI) and evolve into a new species of cybernetic being that will essentially be immortal. This is a logical theory of the future that is based on Moore’s Law, nanotechnology, and trends in AI. This paper will show that there is actually evidence that the accelerating trend may be slowing down, due to reaching the limitation of human’s ability to keep up with the pace of technology. Instead, this is actually strong evidence for the theory of Programmed Reality.

Programmed Reality is a different, yet somewhat overlapping theory, that takes Moore’s Law to an alternative conclusion. That is, between advances in virtual reality simulations, gaming, and Brain Computer Interfacing (BCI), we will eventually be able to create reality simulations that are of such high quality from a “sensory experience” standpoint, that they will be indistinguishable from “real” reality. I, Kurzweil, Nick Bostrom, and others put this event at about 20 years from now, or in the 2025-2030 range. Bostrom, Director of the Future of Humanity Institute at Oxford University, makes the logical argument in his “Are You Living in a Computer Simulation?” paper, that we are most likely living in a simulation now. My book “The Universe – Solved!”, explores significant additional classes of evidence that lend support to the idea that we may be living in a programmed reality, if not via a “Matrix”-like simulation, then by a program that drives the physical world. Either way, if true, it revolutionizes our concept of reality.

Rather than being a theory of the future, Programmed Reality is more a theory of everything; the past, the present, and the future. And the Singularity would therefore occur within the construct of our Programmed Reality. This has some interesting implications for the likelihood of the Singularity actually happening; in fact, it also provides a test case for the validity of the whole theory. This paper explores the differences between the two views of the future and presents evidence that already exists that not only do we live in a programmed reality, but if so, the Singularity will never occur.

Evidence for the Programmed Reality:

It is worthwhile to briefly review the evidence that we are living in a programmed reality. There is much more detail in the book, but to summarize:

1. OUR DISCRETE WORLD - It takes an infinite amount of resources to create a continuous reality, but a finite amount to create a quantized reality. The very nature of the computational mechanisms of a computer are essentially the same as Quantum Mechanics - a sequence of states, with nothing existing or happening between the states. The resolution of any program is analogous to the spatial resolution of our reality, just at a different level. In fact, if you carry Moore's Law forward (which has been consistent over the past 40 years), computers will reach the Planck resolution in 2192. Not too far off. However, you don't need to model reality all the way to that level for the model to be indistinguishable from our reality. Let's say you want to examine the guts of a tree. You cut it open, scrape off a few cells and put them under a microscope, maybe an electron microscope.

To simulate this computationally, one doesn't have to model every single tree down to the Planck level. Only the observed tree needs to be modeled, and then only the cells selected, and then only down to a resolution that matches the observational limitations of our measurement devices. The program can do that dynamically. And all quantum effects can be programmatically modeled without building a reality model to the Planck level. So, given Moore's law and the limitations of "observational reality", we should be able to create Virtual Realities that are indistinguishable from our current reality within 20 years or so. The very fact that our reality is quantized may be considered strong evidence that reality is programmed.

2. THE SIMULATION TIMELINE - Various modern philosophers and scientists have posited that we are likely to be living a simulation. This is because it is highly probable that we will be able to create ancestor simulations within a few years, when we achieve a posthuman stage. Due either to the number of simulations that will be run, or to the proximity that we are to that stage, it is actually more probable that we are in one than the case where we haven't yet reached that stage. Again, there is no way to tell that we aren't in a programmed reality.

3. THE FINE-TUNED UNIVERSE - The universe is unbelievably finely tuned for the physical existence of matter, let alone life. For example, universal constants cancel out all of the vacuum energy in the universe to an amazing accuracy of one part in 10 to the 115th power. Also, a deviation in the expansion rate of the early universe of 1 part in a billion in either direction would have caused the universe to immediately collapse, or fly apart so fast that stars could never have formed. And there are many more such examples. The only explanation that mainstream science can come up with is that either an uncountably huge number of universes are spawned every second (the Everett interpretation of Quantum Mechanics) or an uncountably huge number of universes are already out there, most of which are entirely benign and unable to support life or even the formation of matter. Via the magic sleight of hand of the anthropic principle, we happen to be in the only perfect one. It certainly seems that Occam's Razor heavily favors the simulation theory here.

4. THOSE PESKY ANOMALIES - The huge set of well-studied anomalies facing us in fields as varied as metaphysics, physics, philosophy, geology, anthropology, and psychology can all be explained only by the programmed reality model. The mathematics of coincidence, the perceived acceleration of society, OOPart, the truth about the paranormal, quantum entanglement, the existence of oil - they all fit neatly into this hypothesis. No other theory can make that claim.

Putting all of this together, we can actually make some predictions about our future. Specifically, and for the purpose of the argument of this paper, Programmed Reality predicts the following:
Any impending civilization-ending trend will always reverse.

Here’s why: If we are indeed in a programmed reality, we can say one of two things about the course of the program.

Either:

1. We will end this reality at some point and begin another one.

or…

2. We will continue to “play the game.”

In the first case, I would argue that the civilization-ending trend merely gets erased, which is an extreme example of reversal. In the second case, there is an incentive for the “programmers” to maintain a construct that allows us to continue to play. Such a construct is inconsistent with the idea of a civilization-ending event.
Another prediction is:

The Singularity will not occur.

The Singularity, while not civilization-ending, is certainly a type of event that will destroy life, reality, and civilization, as we know it. Therefore, by the argument above, it will not happen. If it does, then I would have to concede that Programmed Reality is not a likely description of our reality.

Is Our Reality Just a Big Video Game?

It is now 9 years since the release of the movies “The Matrix,” “eXistenZ,” and “The Thirteenth Floor,” all of which explored the idea that we might be living in a computer-generated simulation. Although the fun and speculation about the premise of these movies has largely died down, the interest around the concept has shifted from pop culture to academic. Nick Bostrom, the Director of the Future of Humanity Institute at Oxford, wrote his oft-quoted “Are You Living In a Computer Simulation?” [1] in 2001. More recently, in 2008, Brian Whitworth from Massey University in New Zealand submitted the white paper “The Physical World as a Virtual Reality” [2], which created a nice buzz in the blogosphere (the Slashdot forum collected over 1000 comments on it alone). Somewhat tangentially, there is also the whole Transhumanism/Singularity movement, which predicts our future merge with AI, but does not really address the idea that we may have already done so.

Also, at the beginning of 2008, I released the book “The Universe – Solved!” My take on the topic is a little different than the common theme of a computer-generated simulation. I consider that scenario to be but one of several possible ways in which our reality may be under programmed control. The book introduces these scenarios but really focuses on presenting all of the categories of evidence that our reality may indeed be programmed. This evidence takes us from feasibility to some level of probability.

But feasibility is where it starts, and for you skeptics out there, this article is for you. If, after reading it, you are still convinced that the idea is not at all feasible, I respectfully acknowledge your position and we can go our separate ways. Where do I stand on it? Put simply, I believe it is very feasible that we live in a programmed reality and highly probable, although as with every other idea in the world, I remain less than 100% convinced.

We shall begin our feasibility study with a nod to the 30th anniversary of the release of the arcade video game Space Invaders. Running on an Intel 8080 microprocessor at 2 MHz, it featured 64-bit characters on a 224 x 240 pixel 2-color screen. There was, of course, was no mistaking anything in that game for reality. One would never have nightmares about being abducted by a 64-bit Space Invader alien. Fast forward 30 years and take a stroll through your local electronic superstore and what do you see on the screen? Is that a football game or is it Madden NFL ’08? Is that an Extreme Games telecast or are we looking at a PS3 or Wii version of the latest skateboarding or snowboarding game. Is that movie featuring real actors or are they CG? (After watching “Beowulf”, I confess that I had to ask my son, who is much more knowledgeable about such things, which parts were CG.)

The source of our confusion is simply Moore’s Law, the general trend that technology doubles every two years or so. Actually, to put a finer point on it, the doubling rate depends on the aspect of technology in question. Transistor density doubles every two years, processor speed doubles every 2.8, and screen resolutions double about every four years. What still remains fascinating about Moore’s Law is that this exponential growth rate has been consistent for the past 40 years or so. As a result, “Madden NFL ‘08” utilizes a 1080x1900 screen resolution (at 16 bit color), at least 1GB of memory, and runs on a PS3 clocked at 2 TFLOPs. Compared to Space Invaders, that represents an increase in screen resolution of over 500x, an increase in processing speed of a factor of 2 million, and an increase in the resolution of gaming models of well over a thousand. And so, “Madden” looks like a real football game.

So, given this relentless technology trend, at what point will be able to generate a simulation so real that it will be indistinguishable from reality? To some extent, we are already there. From an auditory standpoint, we are already capable of generating a soundscape that matches reality. But the visual experience is the long pole in the tent. Given the average human’s visual acuity and ability to distinguish colors, it would require generating a full speed simulation at 150 MB/screen to match reality. Considering Moore’s Law on screen resolution, we should reach that point in 16 years. Then, of course, there are the other senses to fool, however, as we shall see, they should not be too difficult. So, 16 years is our timeframe to generate a virtual reality indistinguishable from “normal” reality. Of course, we also have to experience that reality in a fully immersive environment in order for it to seem authentic. This means doing away with VR goggles, gloves, and other clumsy haptic devices. Yes, we are talking about a direct interface to the brain. So what is the state of the art in that field?

In 2006, a team at MIT did an experiment where they placed electrodes in the brains of macaque monkeys and showed them a variety of pictures. By reading the signals from the electrodes, the team was able to determine to an accuracy of 80% which picture a particular monkey was looking at. [3] Although certainly a nascent technology, this experiment and others like it have demonstrated that it is possible to determine someone’s sensory stimuli by simply monitoring the electrical signals in their brains. We can leave it to Moore’s Law for the perfection of this technology. What about the other direction - writing information into the brain? Dozens of people in the US and Germany have already received retinal implants whereby miniature cameras generate signals that stimulate nerves in the visual cortex in order to provide rudimentary vision of grids of light. Whereas it took 16 years to develop a 16-pixel version, is has taken only 4 years to develop a 60-pixel one. [4] That rate of advance is even higher than Moore’s Law because it is at the early part of a technological innovation. Further advances are being made in this field by stimulating regions deeper into the brain. For example, at Harvard Medical School researchers have shown that visual signals can be generated by stimulating the lateral geniculate nucleus (LGN), an area in the brain that relays signals from the optic nerve to the visual cortex. Perhaps stimulating the visual cortex directly will allow further acceleration of advances in generating simulated realities. Other senses, like taste, smell, and touch, seem to not require the same level of data simulation as the visual simulation and can also be accomplished via the same deep-brain stimulation methods. Given the state of these technologies today and the fact that there are about one million axons that carry visual signals in parallel through the optic nerve, Moore’s Law might say that we could achieve the electrical-implant-based simulation in a little over 30 years. However, nanotech may actually speed up the process.

Instead of implanting a device into the brain that stimulates millions of cells, or axons, why not generate millions of nanobots and give them the instructions to each find an available cell and stimulate it according to direction from a central computer. In early 2008, researchers from Northwestern and Brookhaven National Laboratory equipped gold nano-particles with DNA tentacles, and demonstrated their ability to link with neighbors to create ordered structures. [5] Crystals containing as many as a million particles were built using this technology. In addition, scientists from the International Center for Young Scientists have developed a rudimentary nano-scale molecular machine that is capable of generating the logical state machine necessary to direct and control other nano-machines. [6] These experiments demonstrate a nascent ability to manipulate, build, and control nano-devices, which are the fundamental premises for nanobot technology. Many well-respected technologists and futurists put the likely time frames for molecular assembly and nanobots somewhere in the 2020s. It is hard to say exactly when directed nanobot activities such as those necessary to create the reality experience mentioned above may be possible because there isn’t yet a starting point from which to extrapolate Moore’s Law. However, the current state of the art and common projections put the time frame 20 to 30 years out.

Of course, this would not be enough to fool us because we would still have our memory prior to the instantiation of the simulation, plus our collective set of life memories. Or can our memories be erased and replaced? Researchers at Harvard and McGill Universities used the drug propranolol in a study to dampen traumatic memories, while an amnesia drug was used in studies on rats at New York University to delete specific memories, while leaving all others intact. [7] To the best of our knowledge, memories in the brain are due to strengths in synaptic connections, which in turn are due to the generation of neurochemicals, such as glutamates. In principle, it would appear that properly-programmed nanobots should have the ability to weaken or strengthen these synaptic connections, hence removing or adding memories. The likelihood that memories are distributed throughout the brain only make the programming or deprogramming more difficult, but not impossible in theory.

From these directions, it should be clear that the generation of a full-immersion simulation is not only feasible, but also likely some time in the next 20-30 years. So who is to say that we aren’t already in one? In fact, Nick Bostrom’s Simulation Argument makes a compelling case that we probably are.

The argument goes like this…

Someday, we will have the ability to generate and experience these simulations (the time at which this occurs is called the posthuman phase). And when we do, we would generate millions of them. From a logical standpoint, he says that one of three scenarios must be true:

1. We never get to the posthuman phase because we destroy ourselves.

2. We never get to the posthuman phase because we make a conscious decision not to pursue this technology. Personally, I throw out this scenario as unrealistic. When faces with any technology that has inherent dangers (nuclear energy, nanotech, cloning, generating energies in particle accelerators that are sufficient to create a black hole), when have we ever made a decision not to pursue it?

3. We do achieve posthumanism. And, since the odds that we are living in one of the millions of generated simulations is much higher than the odds that we just happen to be in a reality musing about the possibilities 20 years hence, we are most probably living in a simulation.

Therefore, if you subscribe to his logic and have an optimistic view of where we are going as a species, you have to conclude that we are probably living in a simulation.

However, this only addresses the scenario whereby the reality that we are living in is generated by us in the future. What if our reality is programmed, but by someone else? Other nanotech-based technologies may also be deployed this century that will create physical realities rather than simulated ones. These ideas is explored further in my article "Nanotech and the Physical Manifestation of Reality."

Do we all exist as energetic informational frequency expressions (Enformation)

in a Cosmic Internet of communication, awareness & perception? Is the Universe a giant cosmic "Enternet"? The latest data seems to be indicating this may be the case. It's obvious that our electronic communication technologies & tools are just crude artificial replicas of what we all are doing naturally as conscious energy beings.

Are we beings of perpetual awareness having a relationship with our images of internal self reflection? Fundamentally we are "energy perceiving energy" in a complex mathematical relationship that produces self awareness, structure, separation & identity. Are some of us becoming conscious of this process & learning to understand the coded or encoded language of this energetic system of self reflecting intelligence, information and organization? I think so....

As shown before DNA can be programmed via specific light & sound frequencies. This would mean that all life, matter & energy can be controlled via a light & sound programing language. This would mean that fundamentally the universe is somehow informationally & energetically constructed via a language similar to how we can create software displaying audio & visual worlds via a computer screen yet in some ways far more advanced than our simulations & VR worlds using tools like Java Script, C++ & Python, but the principle is the same.

Is it possible that "The Word" is a language to control light or energy.

We are 20 or 30 years away from creating 3D simulations & worlds that replicate our own down to the last microscopic & atomic detail. We will be able to interact in these worlds via an interface & when this occurs we will not be able to tell the difference between what's Real or Virtual.

If we can do it now, how do we know for certain it hasn't already been done? Energy appears to be solid but it's not, this is the illusion of matter all physicist's understand. Are we as real as we think we are? What is "REAL" if everything is made of organized electrons that really have no density? Is it possible that Us & our Sims are just degrees away in the electromagnetic engineering spectrum. Are we all existing in another civilizations simulation as holographic energy & information? Do we exist in a programed Reality Matrix that is for the most part undetectable & exists on a Nano Scale? Is this part of the Game? Eventually the Sims figure out they are sort of programed Sims & begin the creation simulation game anew?

Are We Just a Program
If we exist in a programed reality who or what wrote this language? Who or what are the programers? Given the evidence & data it is probable we all may be existing in a programed simulated environment created by an advanced civilization from our past, the future or some other far out scenario. For if we have discovered or invented computer simulations who's to say it hasn't already been done?

If existence is just a hyper cosmic sentient MIND a Universal OS acting in a self organizing way then are we all just electromagnetic expressions in an energetic sea of self reflecting information? The current data seems to be expressing such a phenomenon.

What is "Out There" is a seemingly enormous flux of energy signals, translatable as sensory information via our sense & experience. Every cell in our body, our electro-chemical perceptions, all of it is fundamentally made of energetic layers existing as something else on each perceptual level. These interrelationships of energy produce the solid images & impressions we all seem to interact with & perceive.

The data is demonstrating The Universe is a complex system of energetic signal transceivers interacting on various frequencies which in turn produce a manifestation of "Images" that appear to have space, time, dimension, density, power, forces & motion. When in fact it is is all just information having a relationship with itself. The Universe is a energetic informational construct.

Are we self aware, self reflecting mathematical movements of energetic information in a logarithimic loop of harmonic resonance & relationships via various Hz waves of energy? Is "I" just a self aware mathematical algorithmic function of energy in phase conjugation with itself having an illusory sense of identity, separation & difference regarding densities, structure & being?

Is "I" or "Reality" just a binary function of electromagnetic residual images based on a programmable thought wave?

For if existence is just a Hyper Dimensional Sentient MIND in layers of self organization, intelligence & self reflection then are we all just metaphoric expressions in an energetic sea of mirrored information having a labyrinth of experiences but actually in essence it is one infinite being or self organizing system of information experiencing it self subjectively creating false divisions of separation & objectivity?

And if the universe is programmable units of energetic informational codes able to be experienced at various levels then is it possible we exist in a some type hyper advanced enformational system of communication & self reflection with the ability to change or modify the system ?

Metaphorically, Is the universe a just a huge mirrored fun house of light & sound creating the appearance of being something more that it is? Is energy having a self reflecting narcissistic relationship with itself ?

Some recent Russian DNA discoveries documented by Grazyna Fosar and Franz Bludorf in their book Vernetzte Intelligenz have been summarized by Baerbel. ‘The human DNA is a biological Internet’ with evidence that DNA can be ‘influenced and reprogrammed by words and frequencies.’ This suggests that ‘our DNA is not only responsible for the construction of our body, but also serves as data storage and communication.’ The Russian scientists and linguists have found that the genetic code ‘follows the same rules as all our human languages.’ In effect, human language did not appear coincidentally but is a reflection of our DNA.

The Russian researchers believe that ‘Living chromosomes function just like a holographic computer using endogenous DNA laser radiation. This means that they managed to modulate certain frequency patterns (sound) onto a laser-like ray which influence DNA frequency and thus the genetic information itself. Since the basic structure of DNA-alkaline pairs and language is of the same structure, no DNA decoding is necessary. One can simply use words and sentences of the human language! This, too, was experimentally proven!’ Of course the frequency has to be correct. But for the purposes of this article, the Russian research shows how science now can demonstrate a way to reprogram DNA through language and frequencies.

The human DNA is a biological Internet and superior in many aspects to the artificial one. The latest Russian scientific research directly or indirectly explains phenomena such as clairvoyance, intuition, spontaneous and remote acts of healing, self healing, affirmation techniques, unusual light/auras around people (namely spiritual masters), the mind’s influence on weather patterns and much more.

In addition, there is evidence for a whole new type of medicine in which DNA can be influenced and reprogrammed by words and frequencies WITHOUT cutting out and replacing single genes.

Only 10% of our DNA is being used for building proteins. It is this subset of DNA that is of interest to western researchers and is being examined and categorized. The other 90% are considered "junk DNA. The Russian researchers, however, convinced that nature was not dumb, joined linguists and geneticists in a venture to explore those 90% of "junk DNA". Their results, findings and conclusions are simply revolutionary!

According to them, our DNA is not only responsible for the construction of our body but also serves as data storage and communication. The Russian linguists found that the genetic code, especially in the apparently useless 90%, follows the same rules as all our human languages. To this end they compared the rules of syntax (the way in which words are put together to form phrases and sentences), semantics (the study of meaning in language forms) and the basic rules of grammar.

They found that the alkalines of our DNA follow regular grammar and do have set rules just like our languages. So human languages did not appear coincidentally but are a reflection of our inherent DNA.

The Russian biophysicist and molecular biologist Pjotr Garjajev and his colleagues also explored the vibrational behavior of the DNA. [For the sake of brevity I will give only a summary here. For further exploration please refer to the appendix at the end of this article.]

The bottom line was: "Living chromosomes function just like solitonic/holographic computers using the endogenous DNA laser radiation."

This means that they managed, for example, to modulate certain frequency patterns onto a laser ray and with it influenced the DNA frequency and thus the genetic information itself. Since the basic structure of DNA-alkaline pairs and of language (as explained earlier) are of the same structure, no DNA decoding is necessary. One can simply use words and sentences of the human language!

Oceans create individual waves of form & expression for a limited time, those waves expand & express themselves as an individual event for an experiential moment. Is Reality An Enformational Super Hologram ?

In 1982 a remarkable event took place. At the University of Paris a research team led by physicist Alain Aspect performed what may turn out to be one of the most important experiments of the 20th century. You did not hear about it on the evening news. In fact, unless you are in the habit of reading scientific journals you probably have never even heard Aspect’s name, though there are some who believe his discovery may change the face of science.

Aspect’s experiment is related to the EPR Experiment, a consicousness experiment which had been devised by Albert Einstein, and his colleagues, Poldlsky and Rosen, in order to disprove Quantum Mechanics on the basis of the Pauli Exclusion Principle contradicting Special Relativity.

Aspect and his team discovered that under certain circumstances subatomic particles such as electrons are able to instantaneously communicate with each other regardless of the distance separating them. It doesn’t matter whether they are 10 feet or 10 billion miles apart.

Somehow each particle always seems to know what the other is doing. The problem with this feat is that it violates Einstein’s long-held tenet that no communication can travel faster than the speed of light. Since traveling faster than the speed of light is tantamount to breaking the time barrier, this daunting prospect has caused some physicists to try to come up with elaborate ways to explain away Aspect’s findings. But it has inspired others to offer even more radical explanations.

University of London physicist David Bohm, for example, believes Aspect’s findings imply that objective reality does not exist, that despite its apparent solidity the universe is at heart a phantasm, a gigantic and splendidly detailed hologram.

To understand why Bohm makes this startling assertion, one must first understand a little about holograms. A hologram is a three- dimensional photograph made with the aid of a laser.

To make a hologram, the object to be photographed is first bathed in the light of a laser beam. Then a second laser beam is bounced off the reflected light of the first and the resulting interference pattern (the area where the two laser beams commingle) is captured on film.

When the film is developed, it looks like a meaningless swirl of light and dark lines. But as soon as the developed film is illuminated by another laser beam, a three-dimensional image of the original object appears.

The three-dimensionality of such images is not the only remarkable characteristic of holograms. If a hologram of a rose is cut in half and then illuminated by a laser, each half will still be found to contain the entire image of the rose.

Indeed, even if the halves are divided again, each snippet of film will always be found to contain a smaller but intact version of the original image. Unlike normal photographs, every part of a hologram contains all the information possessed by the whole.

The “whole in every part” nature of a hologram provides us with an entirely new way of understanding organization and order. For most of its history, Western science has labored under the bias that the best way to understand a physical phenomenon, whether a frog or an atom, is to dissect it and study its respective parts.

A hologram teaches us that some things in the universe may not lend themselves to this approach. If we try to take apart something constructed holographically, we will not get the pieces of which it is made, we will only get smaller wholes.

This insight suggested to Bohm another way of understanding Aspect’s discovery. Bohm believes the reason subatomic particles are able to remain in contact with one another regardless of the distance separating them is not because they are sending some sort of mysterious signal back and forth, but because their separateness is an illusion. He argues that at some deeper level of reality such particles are not individual entities, but are actually extensions of the same fundamental something.

This fundamental connectedness would correlate with The Fifth Element, and its mathematical proof of all aspects of the universe being energetically connected – Hal Puthoff’s assertion in his work on Zero-Point Energy of all charges in the universe being connected and that further mass is in all likelihood an illusion as well — and both of these modern day theories of physics being in accordance with ancient traditions and philosophies, which claim the same connectedness of the diverse parts of the universe.

To enable people to better visualize what he means, Bohm offers the following illustration. Imagine an aquarium containing a fish. Imagine also that you are unable to see the aquarium directly and your knowledge about it and what it contains comes from two television cameras, one directed at the aquarium’s front and the other directed at its side.

As you stare at the two television monitors, you might assume that the fish on each of the screens are separate entities. After all, because the cameras are set at different angles, each of the images will be slightly different. But as you continue to watch the two fish, you will eventually become aware that there is a certain relationship between them.

When one turns, the other also makes a slightly different but corresponding turn; when one faces the front, the other always faces toward the side. If you remain unaware of the full scope of the situation, you might even conclude that the fish must be instantaneously communicating with one another, but this is clearly not the case.

This, says Bohm, is precisely what is going on between the subatomic particles in Aspect’s experiment.

According to Bohm, the apparent faster-than-light connection between subatomic particles is really telling us that there is a deeper level of reality we are not privy to, a more complex dimension beyond our own that is analogous to the aquarium. And, he adds, we view objects such as subatomic particles as separate from one another because we are seeing only a portion of their reality.

Such particles are not separate “parts”, but facets of a deeper and more underlying unity that is ultimately as holographic and indivisible as the previously mentioned rose. And since everything in physical reality is comprised of these “eidolons”, the universe is itself a projection, a hologram.

In addition to its phantomlike nature, such a universe would possess other rather startling features. If the apparent separateness of subatomic particles is illusory, it means that at a deeper level of reality all things in the universe are infinitely interconnected. The electrons in a carbon atom in the human brain are connected to the subatomic particles that comprise every salmon that swims, every heart that beats, and every star that shimmers in the sky.

Everything interpenetrates everything, and although human nature may seek to categorize and pigeonhole and subdivide, the various phenomena of the universe, all apportionments are of necessity artificial and all of nature is ultimately a seamless web.

In a holographic universe, even time and space could no longer be viewed as fundamentals. Because concepts such as location break down in a universe in which nothing is truly separate from anything else, time and three-dimensional space, like the images of the fish on the TV monitors, would also have to be viewed as projections of this deeper order.

At its deeper level reality is a sort of superhologram in which the past, present, and future all exist simultaneously. This suggests that given the proper tools it might even be possible to someday reach into the superholographic level of reality and pluck out scenes from the long-forgotten past.

What else the superhologram contains is an open-ended question. Allowing, for the sake of argument, that the superhologram is the matrix that has given birth to everything in our universe, at the very least it contains every subatomic particle that has been or will be — every configuration of matter and energy that is possible, from snowflakes to quasars, from bluü whales to gamma rays. It must be seen as a sort of cosmic storehouse of “All That Is.”

Although Bohm concedes that we have no way of knowing what else might lie hidden in the superhologram, he does venture to say that we have no reason to assume it does not contain more. Or as he puts it, perhaps the superholographic level of reality is a “mere stage” beyond which lies “an infinity of further development”.

Bohm is not the only researcher who has found evidence that the universe is a hologram. Working independently in the field of brain research, Standford neurophysiologist Karl Pribram has also become persuaded of the holographic nature of reality.

Pribram was drawn to the holographic model by the puzzle of how and where memories are stored in the brain. For decades numerous studies have shown that rather than being confined to a specific location, memories are dispersed throughout the brain.

In a series of landmark experiments in the 1920s, brain scientist Karl Lashley found that no matter what portion of a rat’s brain he removed he was unable to eradicate its memory of how to perform complex tasks it had learned prior to surgery. The only problem was that no one was able to come up with a mechanism that might explain this curious “whole in every part” nature of memory storage.

Then in the 1960s Pribram encountered the concept of holography and realized he had found the explanation brain scientists had been looking for. Pribram believes memories are encoded not in neurons, or small groupings of neurons, but in patterns of nerve impulses that crisscross the entire brain in the same way that patterns of laser light interference crisscross the entire area of a piece of film containing a holographic image. In other words, Pribram believes the brain is itself a hologram.

Pribram’s theory also explains how the human brain can store so many memories in so little space. It has been estimated that the human brain has the capacity to memorize something on the order of 10 billion bits of information during the average human lifetime (or roughly the same amount of information contained in five sets of the Encyclopedia Britannica).

Similarly, it has been discovered that in addition to their other capabilities, holograms possess an astounding capacity for information storage–simply by changing the angle at which the two lasers strike a piece of photographic film, it is possible to record many different images on the same surface. It has been demonstrated that one cubic centimeter of film can hold as many as 10 billion bits of information.

Our uncanny ability to quickly retrieve whatever information we need from the enormous store of our memories becomes more understandable if the brain functions according to holographic principles. If a friend asks you to tell him what comes to mind when he says the word “zebra”, you do not have to clumsily sort back through ome gigantic and cerebral alphabetic file to arrive at an answer. Instead, associations like “striped”, “horselike”, and “animal native to Africa” all pop into your head instantly.

Indeed, one of the most amazing things about the human thinking process is that every piece of information seems instantly cross-correlated with every other piece of information–another feature intrinsic to the hologram. Because every portion of a hologram is infinitely interconnected with ever other portion, it is perhaps nature’s supreme example of a cross-correlated system.

The storage of memory is not the only neurophysiological puzzle that becomes more tractable in light of Pribram’s holographic model of the brain. Another is how the brain is able to translate the avalanche of frequencies it receives via the senses (light frequencies, sound frequencies, and so on) into the concrete world of our perceptions.

Encoding and decoding frequencies is precisely what a hologram does best. Just as a hologram functions as a sort of lens, a translating device able to convert an apparently meaningless blur of frequencies into a coherent image, Pribram believes the brain also comprises a lens and uses holographic principles to mathematically convert the frequencies it receives through he senses into the inner world of our perceptions.

An impressive body of evidence suggests that the brain uses holographic principles to perform its operations. Pribram’s theory, in fact, has gained increasing support among neurophysiologists.

Argentinian-Italian researcher Hugo Zucarelli recently extended the holographic model into the world of acoustic phenomena. Puzzled by the fact that humans can locate the source of sounds without moving their heads, even if they only possess hearing in one ear, Zucarelli discovered that holographic principles can explain this ability.

Zucarelli has also developed the technology of holophonic sound, a recording technique able to reproduce acoustic situations with an almost uncanny realism.

Pribram’s belief that our brains mathematically construct “hard” reality by relying on input from a frequency domain has also received a good deal of experimental support.

It has been found that each of our senses is sensitive to a much broader range of frequencies than was previously suspected.

Researchers have discovered, for instance, that our visual systems are sensitive to sound frequencies, that our sense of smell is in part dependent on what are now called “cosmic frequencies”, and that even the cells in our bodies are sensitive to a broad range of frequencies. Such findings suggest that it is only in the holographic domain of consciousness that such frequencies are sorted out and divided up into conventional perceptions.

But the most mind-boggling aspect of Pribram’s holographic model of the brain is what happens when it is put together with Bohm’s theory. For if the concreteness of the world is but a secondary reality and what is “there” is actually a holographic blur of frequencies, and if the brain is also a hologram and only selects some of the frequencies out of this blur and mathematically transforms them into sensory perceptions, what becomes of objective reality?

Put quite simply, it ceases to exist. As the religions of the East have long upheld, the material world is Maya, an illusion, and although we may think we are physical beings moving through a physical world, this too is an illusion.

We are really “receivers” floating through a kaleidoscopic sea of frequency, and what we extract from this sea and transmogrify into physical reality is but one channel from many extracted out of the superhologram.

This striking new picture of reality, the synthesis of Bohm and Pribram’s views, has come to be called the Holographic Paradigm, and although many scientists have greeted it with skepticism, it has galvanized others. A small but growing group of researchers believe it may be the most accurate model of reality science has arrived at thus far.

More than that, some believe it may solve some mysteries that have never before been explainable by science and even establish the paranormal as a part of nature. Numerous researchers, including Bohm and Pribram, have noted that many para-psychological phenomena become much more understandable in terms of the holographic paradigm.

In a universe in which individual brains are actually indivisible portions of the greater hologram and everything is infinitely interconnected, telepathy may merely be the accessing of the holographic level. It is obviously much easier to understand how information can travel from the mind of individual ‘A’ to that of individual ‘B’ at a far distance point and helps to understand a number of unsolved puzzles in psychology. In particular, Stansilov Grof feels the holographic paradigm offers a model for understanding many of the baffling phenomena experienced by individuals during altered states of consciousness.

In the 1950s, while conducting research into the beliefs of LSD as a psychotherapeutic tool, Grof had one female patient who suddenly became convinced she had assumed the identity of a female of a species of prehistoric reptile. During the course of her hallucination, she not only gave a richly detailed description of what it felt like to be encapsulated in such a form, but noted that the portion of the male of the species anatomy was a patch of colored scales on the side of its head. What was startling to Grof was that although the woman had no prior knowledge about such things, a conversation with a zoologist later confirmed that in certain species of reptiles colored areas on the head do indeed play an important role as triggers of sexual arousal.

The woman¹s experience was not unique. During the course of his research, Grof encountered examples of patients regressing and identifying with virtually every species on the evolutionary tree (research findings which helped influence the man-into-ape scene in the movie, Altered States). Moreover, he found that such experiences frequently contained obscure zoological details which turned out to be accurate.

Regressions into the animal kingdom were not the only puzzling psychological phenomena Grof encountered. He also had patients who appeared to tap into some sort of collective or racial unconscious. Individuals with little or no education suddenly gave detailed descriptions of Zoroastrian funerary practices and scenes from Hindu mythology. In other categories of experience, individuals gave persuasive accounts of out-of-body journeys, of precognitive glimpses of the future, of regressions into apparent past-life incarnations.

In later research, Grof found the same range of phenomena manifested in therapy sessions which did not involve the use of drugs. Because the common element in such experiences appeared to be the transcending of an individual¹s consciousness beyond the usual boundaries of ego and/or limitations of space and time, Grof called such manifestations transpersonal experiences, and in the late ’60s he helped found a branch of psychology called transpersonal psychology devoted entirely to their study. Although Grof¹s newly founded Association of Transpersonal Psychology garnered a rapidly growing group of like-minded professionals and has become a respected branch of psychology, for years neither Grof or any of his colleagues were able to offer a mechanism for explaining the bizarre psychological phenomena they were witnessing. But that has changed with the advent of the holographic paradigm.

As Grof noted, if the mind is actually part of a continuum, a labyrinth that is connected not only to every other mind that exists or has existed, but to every atom, organism, and region in the vastness of space and time itself, the fact that it is able to occasionally make forays into the labyrinth and have transpersonal experiences no longer seems so strange.

Perhaps, in Creating Reality, we have already become – as in Star Trek, The Next Generation – a Q of the Continuum or we are part of a consciousness virtual reality experiment.

The holographic paradigm also has implications for so-called hard sciences like biology. Keith Floyd, a psychologist at Virginia Intermont College, has pointed out that if the concreteness of reality is but a holographic illusion, it would no longer be true to say the brain produces consciousness. Rather, it is Consciousness that creates the appearance of the brain as well as the body and everything else around us we interpret as physical.

Such a turnabout in the way we view biological structures has caused researchers to point out that medicine and our understanding of the healing process could also be transformed by the holographic paradigm. If the apparent physical structure of the body is but a holographic projection of consciousness, it becomes clear that each of us is much more responsible for our health than current medical wisdom allows. What we now view as miraculous remissions of disease may actually be due to changes in consciousness which in turn effect changes in the hologram of the body. Similarly, controversial new healing techniques such as visualization may work so well because in the holographic domain of thought images are ultimately as real as reality. Even visions and experiences involving non-ordinary reality become explainable under the holographic paradigm.

In his book Gifts of Unknown Things, biologist Lyall Watson describes his encounter with an Indonesian shaman woman who, by performing a ritual dance, was able to make an entire grove of trees instantly vanish into thin air. Watson relates that as he and another astonished onlooker continued to watch the woman, she caused the trees to reappear, then click off again and on again several times in succession. Although current scientific understanding is incapable of explaining such events, experiences like this become more tenable if hard reality is only a holographic projection.

Perhaps we agree on what is ‘there’ or ‘not there’ because what we call consensus reality is formulated and ratified at the level of the human unconscious at which all minds are infinitely interconnected. If this is true, it is the most profound implication of the holographic paradigm of all, for it means that experiences such as Watson’s are not commonplace only because we have not programmed our minds with the beliefs that would make them so.

In a holographic universe there are no limits to the extent to which we can alter the fabric of reality.

What we perceive as reality is only a canvas waiting for us to draw upon it any picture we want. Anything is possible, from bending spoons with the power of the mind to events experienced by Carlos Castaneda during his encounters with the Yaqui brujo don Juan, for Magic is our birthright, no more or less miraculous than our ability to compute the reality we want when we are in our dreams.

Indeed, even our most fundamental notions about reality become suspect, for in a holographic universe, as Pribram has pointed out, even random events would have to be seen as based on holographic principles and therefore determined.

Synchronicities or meaningful coincidences suddenly makes sense, and everything in reality would have to be seen as a metaphor. Even the most haphazard events would express some underlying symmetry.

Whether Bohm and Pribram’s holographic paradigm becomes accepted in science or dies an ignoble death remains to be seen, but it is safe to say that it has already had an influence on the thinking of many scientists. And even if it is found that the holographic model does not provide the best explanation for the instantaneous communications that seem to be passing back and forth between subatomic particles, at the very least, as noted by Basil Hiley, a physicist at Birbeck College in London, Aspect’s findings indicate that we must be prepared to consider radically new views of reality.

Stereograms are a great visual tool of how other dimensions & realities can co-exist encoded & embedded within our own " This is All There Is " exterior / interior 3D reality experience. This is the nature of embedding enforamtion or the layering of enformational realities in a Holographic Information Matrix HIM. It is also similar as to how symbols & words as a form of code with layered meanings are used in our society without the slightest comprehension by the general public. The best place to hide something is out in the open, but that's another story.

Most of the time we are only aware of the apparent surface reality in which we have been trained to view & understand. Our language plays a big part in how we codify, relate & solidify our perceptions of the 3D plane. Water, lakes, ocean & fish are a great metaphor for describing how different layers of dimensions, realities & beings can co-exist on levels of the same existence within this planet & universe. Lets take the aquatic world of fish for example.
Fish live in a water filled world of a different order & existence. Fish aren't even aware that they are in water becuase they move through it & it is moving through their lungs, just like we move through this so called empty space full of air. Fish are completely unaware of the surface world of human activity, animals & other beings all around them. Yet we are here co-existing on another dimensional level within the same world. We are 70% water yet we & they are worlds apart, yet right next door. We can see into & enter their domain & dimension but they can't exist in ours except as pets. They don't prey on us for food, we use them. Just because another dimension is some what out of reach perceptually does not mean it's accessible. This allegory is also demonstrated in Plato's Parable of the Cave.

3D Reality Is An Illusion

Reality as an illusion does not mean that our 3D world does not exist! "Illusion" simply means "Appearance". We are having an experience of appearances, like a simple optical illusion but on a more sophisticated holographic informational scale.

The images below - while limited to the visual modality - illustrate that perception is an active construction of the mind rather than a valid representation of objective reality. Just like in these optical illusions we only maintain perspective of one thing or another, it is very difficult to be aware of all of the different images at the same time. The Theory Behind Stereograms By Andrei Bannikov

In 1992 I first came across stereograms. It was a book with about 20 "Magic Eye" pictures and orthodox descriptions which suggested you cross your eyes when you viewed the images. When we see stereograms, our eyes are not actually crossed, they simply adjust to the distance so you can look at the picture. A stereogram is a repeatable pattern made up of a series of pixels. The human mind is capable of treating that pattern as a rhythm, or series of rhythms, similar to music. Distortions of these patterns in this case are translated by our mind as a 3rd dimension. When we see an image inside another image, we actually perceive reality in the mind plane where all pixels are redistributed by our subconscious minds algorithm. What we see is often called 3D, I would suggest we experience a new type of reality.

Reality is like a hologram - a concentration of energy and information that only becomes solid when interpreted by our own mind. Stereographic images allow us to explore the simplest "Hello World" like an example of "software" that our subconscious operates on. When inputted visual information contains rhythmical patterns, somehow our mind tunes in to treat it as a plenum (a background substructure that is the encoder and the carrier of the information), and the distortions of those patterns is the information that is interpreted and served to us in the familiar 3D format.

The term Hyperspace is often used in science fiction to define a multidimensional base for our space-time continuum or space with non-Euclidean geometry. Hyperspace may also refer to a Zero Point Field. In my understanding this terms abstract formulation can be explained with the fact that very few people can actually sense what hyperspace can possibly be and even those visions regarding perception of hyperspace are very different from one another.

According to quantum theory Hyperspace, is something where and when everything connects to everything else. For me it seems to be logical that in order for our mind to evolve further and gain extrasensory abilities, we have to get a real sense of what Hyperspace is, and what we are as perceptual beings in it. In theory, when perception of Hyperspace becomes part of our cognition we will gain an ability to use our intentions to the fullest potential, allowing Telepathy, Psychokinesis, Astral Projection and everything else that defines an ability to tap into the vibrations of Hyperspace and manipulate those vibrations with an intent of Mind.

What if Stereographic Images are actually a clue that might help demystify how actual reality gets formed mentally? Considering that our mind is a system that interprets waves and vibrations as a Space / Time reality similar to how it interprets the rhythm of music or a visual pattern of a stereogram. When we view a stereogram, we actually perceive a 2D image as space with an additional dimension which we perceive similar to depth. Stereogram Pixel Entanglement formulates space that only exists in our mind. If Entangled Pixels are closer to one another in a 2D plane we perceive them further back in relation to initial zero plain when viewing the same image as a stereogram. Experience of a Stereogram is an example of how we can perceive space with non- Euclidean geometry. All this could mean is an experience of a stereogram can help a mediator to sense hyperspace. Theoretically focal meditation with the use of a stereogram is a way to trigger a shift of consciousness towards expanding the perceptual boundaries of our cognition.

Codes are patterns of information that enable us an understanding of meaning, context, function and even form. Codes are symbolic sets of information that we humans use to communicate. Codes can be culture specific ( language, laws, music, memes, morals, science, etc..) or universal phenomena that we learn to understand and then define using symbols ( matter, energy, space time, DNA, perception, etc..) Emotions and body language even contain there own codes. The whole world of science and technology is built from understanding and using a codified language. The knowledge and use of code enables us to define ourselves, our understanding of the world we inhabit and the ability to translate that information to others who understand and use the same symbols. These symbol sets define our existence as a species and a culture.

Codes are used by humans, the universe and machines alike. Codes help to define our perceptions and give rise to the meaning of our existence. The manipulation, use and understanding of codes & symbols define our intelligence and separate us from other life forms on this planet. Codes of meaning and their use define intelligent life as we know it.
Our symbol making ability enables us to communicate & express our existence. Codes are patterns of information that provide meaning & context.
